pipelines-workflows v4.31.0: Error Hooks and Clearer Terragrunt Failures

pipelines-workflows v4.31.0 shipped on October 15, 2026. The headline change is error hooks: hooks that run when a plan or apply fails, matched against the error text. The default Pipelines CLI also moved to v0.69.1.

The full release notes and downloads are on the GitHub release page.

Error hooks

The default Pipelines CLI version is now v0.69.1, which introduces error hooks. An error hook runs when a plan or apply fails with an error that matches one of its on_errors patterns. That gives you a place to fire alerts, open tickets, or run cleanup only on failure, instead of wrapping every run in custom shell checks.

The docs describe the setup on the hook types page.

More data in the hooks API

Hooks API v1.2.0 feeds hooks richer input. Each unit in PIPELINES_HOOK_IN_UNITS_JSON_FILE now includes the result, reason, and cause fields from the Terragrunt run report. Error hooks additionally receive the failed Terragrunt output in PIPELINES_HOOK_IN_ERRORS_FILE, so a hook can inspect the actual failure text without parsing CI logs.

The full field list is on the Hooks API reference.

Clearer Terragrunt error messages

When a Terragrunt run fails, the Pipelines logs and the PR comment now show a short excerpt of the relevant error output. You no longer have to hunt through the raw log to find the line that mattered. Nothing changes on the config side for this one.
